Dashcams have been around for years now, offering comprehensive protection and monitoring of your surroundings to keep you and your vehicle safe. However, with the advancement of technology, dashcams have made phenomenal leaps in features and efficiency along the way. This same commitment to evolution is what steered the design of the Baseus PrimeTrip VD1 Pro dashcam.
In this blog article, we focus on the parking mode feature of the Baseus VD1 Pro and how you can use it to ensure reliable security in every situation, even when your car isn’t running. Now, a typical dashcam runs on power pulled directly from your vehicle’s battery. This connection is usually through the cigarette lighter or accessory port. However, this only allows the camera to record once the car is on.
On the other hand, a hardwiring kit enables you to connect your dashcam directly to the car’s fuse box, ensuring a continuous power supply even when the car is parked. This is where parking mode comes into play. However, the Baseus VD1 Pro ensures parking mode without a hardwire kit.
What Is Parking Mode?
Parking mode is a dashcam feature that allows the camera to continue recording once the engine is turned off. It’s essentially a constant security camera for your car when you park – hence parking mode. When you’re not in your car, parking mode takes over, detecting and recording any movement, bumps, or incidents around your vehicle. So, how does it compare to regular dashcam surveillance?
Benefits of Parking Mode
Parking mode goes above and beyond to provide security and coverage for your vehicle. Unlike regular dashcam parking modes, VD1 Pro parking mode allows you to capture clearer front 4K 25fps and rear 1080p 25fps footage to preserve evidence in the event of a collision. Looking at the differences from normal parking mode, hardwire-free parking mode provides a much more reliable and consistent stream of footage.
Low-Power System
The Baseus PrimeTrip VD1 Pro combines a lithium battery with a solar panel for the best power supply of both worlds. This allows the dashcam to run parking mode off its own internal lithium battery without dipping into the car’s battery at all. Using the solar panel, battery, and parking mode in conjunction provides up to 14 days of parking mode, no hardwiring needed.
With the low power mode, which uses only solar and battery power, the dashcam easily ensures up to 14 days of monitoring, reliable even in shade or underground garages with operating temperature ranging between -40°C and 70°C.

Simple Setup
Hardwire kits are usually complicated and could cost up to a hefty $100. The VD1 Pro has a completely hardwire-free and affordable setup with seamless installation that will have you up and running in no time at all, without any of the wiring fuss.
Reliable Surveillance
A self-sustaining system like the VD1 Pro provides consistent coverage, whether your engine is running or not. It automatically detects movement, recording for 30 seconds. Conventional dashcam parking modes often lower frame rates to 1080P or 720P at 15fps while the VD1 Pro delivers superior clarity and a more responsive G-sensor.
The Baseus VD1 Pro uses smart G sensors to ensure consistent vehicle protection and clear footage. With a front 4K, 25fps camera and rear 1080P, 25fps capture, our dashcams are equipped with 14-Day Parking Monitoring Mode to assess your surroundings in low-power mode. This feature records up to 30s event clips and effortlessly runs through 20 collision detections.
How to Enable Baseus VD1 Pro Parking Mode
Now, the parking mode of VD1 Pro dashcams is easy to operate and enable. With the dashcam’s G-sensor and solar panel + battery layout, you can pick up and record any incidents while your car is parked for up to 14 days. Once activated, the dashcam will enter standby sleep mode, instantly waking up and recording once any abnormal movement or significant objects are detected near your vehicle. It will then record 40 combined front and rear camera events within 30 seconds after the incident is detected.
You can enable parking either on the dashcam itself or through the Baseus app. To enable parking mode, simply follow these easy steps:
On the Device
- Press the menu button, select "Parking Security" in the menu, and click the OK button.
- A pop-up will ask you to confirm that this feature will enable battery power mode. Select OK.
- The next pop-up will state "Overheating, shutting down soon." Select OK again.
- Turn on the "Collision Detection" option to activate parking surveillance.
Please note that after enabling this feature, your dashcam’s battery life may vary depending on parking collision triggers. The function may also automatically stop due to high temperatures.

On the App
- Connect the device to the Baseus app.
- Open Settings, select "Parking Mode", and click "OK" in the pop-up window. Confirm that the "Impact Detection" option is successfully enabled, indicating that parking surveillance mode is activated.
- After the product is powered on again, if a collision is detected, the message "The parking mode got activated while you were away" will appear. You can then connect to the app and go to "Files" > "Incident" to view the recorded videos.
Can I Switch Off Parking Mode?
As the first dashcam in the industry with a 14-day hardwire-free parking mode, the VD1 Pro offers superior protection. However, you might want to turn off the parking mode in certain scenarios. To do so, simply toggle off the “Collision Detector” option under Parking Mode in your settings.
Armed with elite visuals, a dual camera system, STARVIS night vision, and a solar panel + battery setup, the VD1 Pro sets the standard for parking mode, offering seamless and reliable protection in every situation, no wiring needed.
